How to Register a Business in Armenia Online in 2026 — LLC and IE, Step by Step

Armenia is one of the easiest countries in the world to register a business. An LLC can be incorporated in a matter of days. An Individual Entrepreneur (IE) even faster. There are no minimum capital requirements for an LLC, government fees are minimal, and the process is fully accessible to foreign nationals.

The challenge is not the law — it is navigating the paperwork, the document requirements, the notary translations, and the State Register correctly the first time. Doing it wrong means delays, rejections, and starting over.

Documan's online platform was built to handle all of that on your behalf — so that you get your business registered correctly, quickly, and without visiting a single government office.

LLC or Individual Entrepreneur — Which One Do You Need?

Before anything else, you need to choose the right legal structure. This decision affects your tax regime, your residency eligibility, your liability, and how you invoice clients.

LLC is the right choice if:

  • You have multiple founders or partners
  • You want the company to be a separate legal entity from yourself
  • Your clients or investors expect a formal corporate structure
  • You plan to scale, hire employees, or raise capital
  • You are a foreign national seeking a Permanent Residence Card as a business owner

IE is the right choice if:

  • You are operating alone and want the simplest possible structure
  • Your activity is freelance, consulting, IT, or service-based
  • You want to qualify for the 1% IT tax regime quickly
  • You want to apply for a Temporary Residence Card based on business activity
  • You want minimal administrative overhead

The registration process for both goes through the same State Register. The documents required and the timeline are slightly different. Documan handles both through the same platform.

How the Documan Online Registration Platform Works

Most people registering a business in Armenia still go through the process manually — showing up at the State Register, waiting in queues, submitting paper documents, and hoping nothing is missing. Documan built an alternative.

1

Create your account

Go to documan.am and register on the platform. The process takes a few minutes. Once you are inside your account, you can select the service you need, track the status of your application in real time, and communicate directly with the team.

2

Select your legal entity type

On the platform, you choose whether you are registering an LLC or an IE. The system then generates the exact document checklist for your specific situation — including what needs to be translated, notarized, or apostilled depending on your nationality.

3

Submit your documents

You upload your documents directly through the platform. For most applicants this means your passport and its notarized Armenian translation. For an LLC with multiple founders, the platform will also guide you through the charter and founding decision documents. Documan reviews everything before submission — avoiding rejections and delays.

4

Documan files on your behalf

Once your documents are verified and complete, Documan submits the application to the State Register. With 500+ submitted applications, the team knows exactly how the State Register processes applications and how to handle edge cases. An LLC is typically registered within 1–2 working days. An IE can be registered within the same day in standard cases.

5

Track your application in real time

Throughout the process, your account shows the current status of your application. You do not need to call or email to find out what is happening. Everything is visible in your dashboard.

6

Receive your registration documents

Once registered, your company receives a registration certificate and a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) — required for everything from opening a bank account to filing taxes. Documan delivers these to you digitally and guides you on next steps.

You Do Not Need to Be in Armenia to Register

This is one of the most common questions we receive — and the answer is no, you do not need to be physically present in Armenia to register your business through Documan.

Documents can be submitted remotely. Documan handles the filing. If you are already in Yerevan, a Documan representative can also meet you at your location to collect and sign documents — without requiring an office visit on your part.

If you need to be physically present in Armenia for any reason specific to your case (for example, to open a bank account or pick up a physical residence card), Documan will advise you on exactly when and why.

What Happens After Registration

Registration is the beginning, not the end. Here is what needs to happen immediately after your company is registered:

Choose your tax regime within 20 days

This is the most commonly missed step. Once your company is registered, you have 20 days to apply for a preferential tax regime — microbusiness, turnover tax, or the 1% IT regime. If you miss this window, the general system (18% profit tax) applies automatically for the entire year. Documan handles this as part of the registration process so it is never missed.

Select a registered address

Your company needs a legal address in Armenia. This is the address where the Migration Service will send verification officers if you apply for a residence card. It needs to be an address where someone can actually be reached. Documan can advise on address requirements.

Open a business bank account

A TIN alone is not enough to operate. You will need a corporate bank account to receive payments, pay taxes, and conduct international transactions. Armenian banks generally require the registration certificate, TIN, passport, and sometimes a business profile. Documan guides clients through bank selection and the account opening process. Turnaround varies by bank — typically a few days to two weeks.

Register for payroll taxes if you have employees

If you plan to hire, you must register with the State Revenue Committee (SRC) for payroll obligations including income tax withholding, pension contributions, and from 2026, mandatory health insurance.

There are no minimum capital requirements. You do not need to deposit money into a company account before registration. The statutory capital of an LLC can be any amount and does not need to be paid at registration.

Why Foreign Entrepreneurs Choose Armenia

No minimum capital requirement

Unlike many European jurisdictions, there is no minimum amount you need to deposit to incorporate an LLC.

No government fee for LLCs

Standard LLC incorporation carries zero government fee.

Residency eligibility through business

Registering an LLC or IE makes you eligible to apply for a Temporary Residence Card. LLC owners with sufficient capital can apply directly for a 5-year Permanent Residence Card — though from November 2026, the direct PRC route for business owners will close and require 3 years of TRC first.

Competitive tax environment

IT companies can access the 1% turnover tax. General services pay 10% on turnover under the simplified system. The general system taxes profit at 18% for LLCs. See our full Armenia Tax Guide 2026 for details.

51 double taxation treaties

Armenia has DTTs with Russia, China, Germany, France, India, and most EU member states — making it an efficient hub for international service businesses.

Not on any international sanctions list

This matters for banking access, international wire transfers, and working with EU and US clients.

How Documan Is Different from Doing It Yourself

Going directly to the State Register and registering independently is possible. But here is what typically goes wrong:

  • Translation format matters. Passports need to be translated and notarized in Armenian by a certified translator. The wrong format means rejection.
  • Corporate documents have exact requirements. The charter and founding decision documents need to comply with Armenian corporate law. Using the wrong template or missing a clause causes delays.
  • The 20-day window is easy to miss. Most people who register independently are not aware of it — and spend a year on the wrong tax system.
  • Address verification happens without notice. If nobody is home when the Migration Service comes, a residency application based on that address fails.

500+ submitted applications

Documan has processed over 500 applications. The team knows where the common mistakes are, how to avoid them, and how to handle the cases that do not fit the standard template.
